Why massage is more than relaxation

Most people see massage as a reward – something we allow ourselves when we've "earned" it. But research and our therapists' experience say the same thing: regular massage isn't a reward, it's maintenance.

What happens in the body

Within the first ten minutes, cortisol – the stress hormone – begins to drop. Blood vessels widen, muscles that have been in a "defensive" state for weeks slowly release, and the nervous system shifts from "fight or flight" into "rest and repair".

After 30 minutes lymph flow increases noticeably, helping the body clear accumulated waste. After a full 60 minutes most clients describe the same feeling: as if they had "put down a weight they didn't know they were carrying".

How often?

For maintenance we recommend one massage every 3–4 weeks. For chronic issues – desk work, sports training, insomnia – every two weeks at first, until the body "resets".

Which massage to choose?

  • Relaxation massage – when the goal is to calm the mind and lower stress.
  • Sports massage – when muscles ache, feel stiff or you're recovering from training.
  • Hot stone massage – when you want deep relaxation without strong pressure.
  • Aromatherapy massage – when the senses need as much care as the body.

Not sure? Our therapists ask how you feel before every treatment and adapt their approach. Book an appointment and let go.
